Reef Safe: No Care Level: Moderate Temperament: Peaceful Diet: Algae, invertebrates, jellyfish, anemones, hydroids, algae, small fish Natural History: The Orbic Batfish is found singly or in small groups in lagoons and coastal reef zones, often with silty water. As a juvenile grows, its body becomes more round rather then vertically elongate as they are when young. This species exhibits different color forms - red, tan, and yellow. Juveniles frequent mangroves and the inner areas of lagoons while adults favor more seaward areas. Husbandry: The Orbic Batfish is not reef compatible because it feeds on the polyps of many different types of Cnidarians. This fish should be handled with care when transported - it is susceptible to ich (Cryptocaryon irritans). | ||||
