Natural History: The Zebra Hermit Crab is found in the intertidal zone of sandy beaches. It uses its larger left claw to defend itself as it recedes into its shell at any sign of danger.
Husbandry: The Zebra Hermit Crab constantly moves across the substrate and picks at algae and detritus. It should be provided larger snail shells to switch into. It is reported to feed on undesirable species of algae such as blue-green bacteria.
