:  The Jawfish
Taxonomy: Perciformes, Jawfish  (Opistognathidae)
General Information: The jawfish include about 60 species in 4 different genera. They are similar in features to the blennies with disproportionately large heads, eyes, and jaws. They have cycloid scales (overlapping) and a long dorsal fin.
Diet: They feed on crustaceans.
Final Note: Most jawfish are easy to maintain but require a soft substrate for digging. They can jump and a good aquarium lid is required to keep them contained. Small ornamental shrimp may be food to a jawfish.
