Natural History: The Swalesi Basslet is found on coral reefs where it hides in refuges by day, often hovering upside down, as solitary individuals or in pairs. It will retreat into spaces among the corals when approached, making it very difficult to collect.
Husbandry: The Swalesi Basslet is reclusive and unaggressive toward other species and should be housed with less aggressive species with plenty of rocky recesses where it can hide. This species is reported to be very secretive.
