(Mushroom Corals) Body Form: The pedal disc forms the attachment site to the substrate. The column is the stalked body which is often reduced. The upper surface is the oral disc. Diet: photosynthetic , particulates, flocculents, possibly detritus Care Level: easy Natural History: Corallimorpharians are very difficult to taxonomize and lack a skeleton. They have short reduced tentacles that appear as bumps or protrusions. Their tentacles cannot be retracted. Most species in this group reproduce readily by budding. |
