:  The Scats
Taxonomy: Perciformes, Scats  (Scatophagidae)
General Information: There is only one genus and 4 species in the Scat family. They have a compressed body and small mouth with a spiny dorsal fin.
Diet: This group feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and offal (fish waste).
Final Note: Scats are reported to be prone to contracting skin parasites and fungal infections. They will eat macroalgae and may pick at coral polyps in a reef aquarium.
