Natural History: The Xanthocephalus Butterflyfish is found on reefs rich in coral or algae-covered rock.
Husbandry: Xanthocephalus Butterflyfishes are rare in the aquarium trade. It is reported to be moderately hardy. This species is not recommended for reef aquariums. It will generally accept frozen diced seafoods after acclimation. Hiding places and open swimming space should be provided.
