Natural History: The Ornate Ghost Pipefish is found on coral and rocky reefs around gorgonians or branching corals. It is generally observed in pairs, hanging motionlessly around its coral/rock background.
Husbandry: The Ornate Ghost Pipefish requires live crustaceans foods, including Mysis or brine shrimp. It is best fed several times daily. A refugium and an aquarium with a large amount of live rock will help to provide the small copepods and crustaceans that this fish normally feeds upon. It should only be housed with peaceful tankmates and not with any species that also feeds upon small crustaceans. Water flow should be kept to a minimum. This fish requires excellent husbandry to survive in the home aquarium.
