Algae
Growing macroalgae in a marine aquarium requires BRIGHT LIGHT. All macroalgae use the shorter wavelength of lights best - violet, blue and indigo. At least 9 to 10 hours of light will generally be required for the algae to thrive. The benefits macroalgae provide to an aquarium are numerous. They oxygenate water during the daylight hours, they absorb nitrates and some toxins from the water, they remove carbon dioxide from the water and thus help to minimize its acidic affect.
