Body Form: The arthropod body includes an exoskeleton and jointed legs, the most successful body plan on earth. They have intricate feeding appendages, can generally swim or crawl rapdily, and have eyes and antennae to sense the world.
Diet: The arthropods include species with every conceivable feeding niche, from herbivores to carnivores, including parasites and filter feeders.
Natural History: Arthropods are a major part of the food chains around them in the ocean. They include the shrimp, crabs, crustaceans, barnacles, lobsters and more. Their huge numbers support animals as large as whale sharks and blue whales - which can reach 100' in length.
