Natural History: Stromban conches are herbivores that climb over rocks and chew algae from the surface. The Tongan Strombus burrows beneath the sand to additionally feed on detritus. It has well developed eyes on stalks that it can peer with from beneath its shell.
Husbandry: Without algae on live rock, dried seaweed (Nori) should be provided to the Tongan Strombus Conch. They are very hardy in a well-established aquarium with a healthy growth of algae. Hermit crabs can kill them. They may burrow at night and for days at a time.
