Marble Orange Tile Star   (Fromia sp)
Phylum: Echinodermata, Class: Asteroidea
Range: Tropical Seas
Size: 6 in.    Space:: 100+ gal.     Diet: Algae/Bacterial films, sponges, dead mollusks, debris
Reef Safe: Yes   Care Level: Difficult   Temperament: Peaceful
Natural History: Fromia Starfish are echinoderms that move with tube feet. They control their tube feet with an internal water vascular hydraulic system. Fromia milleporella is observed on reef rubble and rock. It is generally believed that this starfish preys on sponges on the reef.
Husbandry: The Red/Pink Tile Starfish thrives best if kept in established aquaria with live rock and a healthy sponge population. It feeds nearly exclusively on sponges and is difficult to keep in aquaria. It is very sensitive to salinity changes and should be acclimated to a home aquarium system very slowly, over 4 hours or more time.
