General Information: There are only 2 genera with 7 species of Helmet Gurnards. These fish are bottom dwellers with enlarged pectoral fins and large armored heads.
Diet: These fish feed on benthic crustaceans, molluscs, and small fish.
Final Note: The Helmet Gurnards are an unusual aquarium fish that requires an open sandy bottom to crawl and feed. They generally thrive best in a low-traffic area where they are not disturbed. They do not tolerate food competition well in aquaria.
