:  The Scorpionfishes
Taxonomy: Scorpaeniformes, Scorpionfishes  (Scorpaenidae)
General Information: The scorpionfishes include over 385 species in 45 genera. The most venomous fishes in the sea are in this group - the stonefishes.
Diet: They are carnivores - worms, fish, crustaceans ,etc.
Final Note: Lionfishes have numerous spines on their fins and operculum. They have venom glands on their fins which carry very potent toxin. There may or may not be scales.
