Natural History: Rainford's goby is a benthic fish that prefers the protection of burrows and recesses on reefs. Rock and sand must be provided in the aquarium. It may be aggressive with other gobies as an adult. It swallows and sifts sand for small invertebrates, and likely algae and detritus.
Husbandry: Rainford's Goby is best housed in aquaria with some hair algae. It may become malnourished without an algae crop to feed on. It is peaceful except with other Amblygobius gobies.
