Natural History: The Wheeleri goby is found in shallow sand and rubble reef areas in associated with Alpheus ochrastriatus shrimp. Two shrimp may inhabit a single burrow maintained by the shrimp. The gobies watch over burrow entrance and signal retreat when danger appears.
Husbandry: The Wheeleri is an excellent addition to a sand and rubble reef tank. It is peaceful and will likely only be aggressive with other watchman gobies.
