Natural History: The Girdled Wrasse is found on lagoons and reef slopes over coral and rubble. It is observed in feeding groups that feed close to the substrate.
Husbandry: The Girdled Wrasse is uncommon in the aquarium trade. Males are likely to be aggressive toward other fairy wrasses, especially when the tank size is small. This species should be housed with live rock to help provide the hiding places and food that this species prefers.
