Natural History: The Regal Demoiselle is found on inshore and offshore reefs as well as lagoons in small groups. They are observed around pier pilings.
Husbandry: It is an active fish and spends most of its time in the act of darting about the aquarium. It is best kept in groups of 4 to 5 to reduce aggression between individual fish. They are generally not aggressive to other unrelated aquarium species.
Reproduction: Males chase females and both make courtship displays. The female is led back to the male's nest and she lays eggs there, where they are fertilized.
