Reef Safe: Yes Care Level: Moderate Temperament: Peaceful Diet: Zooplankton - copepods Natural History: The Helfrichi Firefish Goby is a deepwater dartfish that prefers rocky and sandy substrates of reef slopes and dropoffs. It is typically observed in pairs and is regarded as monogamous. It does twitch its dorsal fin to and fro while it hovers above the sand. Husbandry: The Helfrichi Firefish Goby is intolerant of temperature spikes in an aquarium. It is peaceful and should not be housed with aggressive tankmates. Live rock should provide plenty of necessary hiding places. It may be aggressive toward other gobies, especially its own species. It is an excellent jumper when frightened, so an aquarium with a tight fitting lid and screened overflow is required. This species is an excellent candidate for a nano-system. | ||||
