Natural History: The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse is found in groups on rocky zones on the edges of reefs, usually swimming high above the substrate feeding on plankton. The males often display for females or even other males. It is one of the more common fairy wrasses in its range. It frequents strong water flow areas of reefs. There is considerable color variation in this species.
Husbandry: Female Exquisite Fairy Wrasses can be housed in groups but large males should be housed singly. This species should not be placed in a community tank with other planktivores such as dottybacks or anthias/pseudanthias. The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse generally accepts most aquarium foods.
