Body Form: The body is flattened and the polyp with tentacles lies flat on the substrate. The pedal disc is often submerged in sand.
Diet: These anemones possess zooxanthellae but also feed on fish or crustaceans they catch

Natural History: The Stichodactylidae includes two genera: Heteractis and Stichodactyla. Most species have potent nematocysts that can kill fish and leaves welts on human skin. Most associate with clownfish (Amphiprion sp.) and are found in shallow reef zones. |
