Natural History: The Red Waratah Anemone is found on rocky reefs from the intertidal zone down to almost 20'. It has been observed to move from rock to rock and battle other Red Waratah Anemones for position. It extends its tentacles to catch debris in the water column at high tide.
Husbandry: The Red Waratah Anemone is a small anemone that is capable of consuming small fish. It does not associate with clownfish. This species can locomote and only one should be kept in a small aquarium. This anemone species is reported to have a significant sting. This species is reported to bud offspring from the oral disc.
