Reef Safe: Yes Care Level: Easy Temperament: Peaceful Diet: photosynthetic , particulates, flocculents, possibly detritus Natural History: The Ricordeidae grow very low on the surface of rock or dead coral. Their colors range from red and orange to green and yellow. They have randomly pimpled surfaces with tentacles tipped in a contrasting color to their base. The tentacles are not retractable. It is more commonly observed in turbid waters. Husbandry: They may not thrive under bright metal halide lighting. They are polystomatous (multiple mouths) and have very short tentacles that cannot be withdrawn. Specimens may reach 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Periclimenes shrimp may associate with Ricordea. | ||||
